10/3 Parade of Nations,10/31 EMU World Cup

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to all!

In case you have not noticed, it's the homecoming week at EMU this week. Some of the highlights include:

school wide picnic (today at SC Ballroom from 11-1, free food)

shop around block party (Thursday, outside of SC, 6-8 p.m.), followed by

pep rally 8-9 p.m.

The Parade of Nations has been scheduled to take place just before the 1:00 p.m. football game on Saturday, October 3. We are still in need of flag bearers for the parade. Please contact Ms. Julia Beaver at OIS, jbeaver4@emich.edu as soon as possible if you are able to help.

The annual International Week is just around the corner, too. One of the very exciting events is the EMU World Cup Soccer Tournament. I encourage everyone to consider participating, either to compete or to volunteer. Team registration deadline for the tournament is October 15:

Saturday, October 31 (Sunday, November 1 afternoon if needed) at Bowen Field House.

Each team is to consist of 6 people, at least one must be female. Please visit OIS International Week web site for details.

I am helping with the Learn to Speak World Languages lobby table from Monday, October 26 to Wednesday, October 28, between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. I will be ever so grateful that you can all make an effort either helping to staff the table (1 or 2 hour shift) or just stopping by to say hello. We hope everyone on campus can learn to greet people in many different languages. So if you know someone who speaks an unique language, please have him/her contact me.

Thank you all for your support and help. I look forward to working closely with you throughout the school year.

Best,

Zhou laoshi
